School Governors
The school operates a circular model of governance, where leadership and the governing body work collaboratively to plan, review and improve all aspects of the school’s work. This model ensures that decision-making is not linear but cyclical, allowing information, challenge and feedback to move continuously between school leaders and governors.
School leaders, including the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), lead on the day-to-day management of the school and provide regular reports to the governing body on key areas such as educational standards, safeguarding, staffing, finance, and the progress of the school development plan. These reports allow governors to maintain a clear understanding of the school’s performance and priorities.
Governors review the information provided, offering strategic challenge and support to ensure that the school is working effectively and that decisions align with the school’s vision and long-term goals. Through governing body and committee meetings, governors ask questions, seek clarification and provide oversight across all areas of governance.
The outcomes of these discussions inform future planning by school leaders, creating an ongoing cycle of planning, monitoring, challenge and review. This approach ensures that priorities remain aligned with the needs of pupils and the school community, and that actions are continually evaluated and improved.
By working within this circular model, the governing body and school leaders maintain strong strategic oversight, shared accountability and continuous improvement across all aspects of governance.
